Brookdale Senior Living and Emeritus Senior Living Announce Expiration of HSR Act Waiting Period
Nashville, Tenn. and Seattle, Wash., April 17, 2014 Brookdale Senior Living Inc. (NYSE: BKD) and Emeritus Corporation (NYSE: ESC) today announced the expiration of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, as amended, in connection with the previously announced proposed merger of Brookdale and Emeritus.
Andy Smith, Brookdales Chief Executive Officer, said, The expiration of the HSR Act waiting period satisfies one of the conditions to the closing of the proposed merger. We continue to work expeditiously to satisfy the other closing conditions and still expect to close the merger in the third quarter of 2014.
