PRIDE HISTORY
Christopher Street Day (CSD)
The CSD is held in memory of the Stonewall Riots, the first big uprising of LGBT people against police assaults that took place at the Stonewall Inn, a bar on Manhattan, New York City's Christopher Street in the district of Greenwich Village on June 28, 1969.
On Saturday, June 27, 1970, marches to mark the first anniversary of Stonewall were held in Chicago and San Francisco, followed on Sunday, June 28, 1970, by the Christopher Street Liberation Day Parade in New York and the Christopher Street West Association Parade in Los Angeles; the four gatherings were the first Pride parades in United States history. To accommodate the interests of the many different groups participating, the Christopher Street Liberation Day Committee named the days leading up to the march Gay Pride Week.
The first four American cities have since continued to celebrate Pride on the last weekend of each June. It has become an international tradition to hold a demonstration for the rights of LGBT people in the summer. The first German Christopher Street Day took place in Berlin in 1979; other parades before then had different names. The first documented LGBT parade in Germany was in Münster on 29 April 1972. The first parade in Switzerland was celebrated on June 24, 1978 in Zürich and was called "Christopher Street Liberation Memorial Day."
Very few establishments welcomed gay people in the 1950s and 1960s; those that did were often run by organized crime groups, due to the illegal nature of gay bars at the time, and bar owners and managers were rarely gay. The homophobic legal system of the 1950s and 1960s prompted early homosexual groups in the US to prove gay people could be assimilated into society, and such early groups favored non-confrontational education for homosexuals and heterosexuals alike. However, the last years of the 1960s saw activity among many social/political movements, including the civil rights movement, the counterculture of the 1960s and the anti-Vietnam War movement. Such influences served as catalysts for the Stonewall riots.

PRIDE IN YOUR COUNTRY
UNITED KINGDOM
The Pride in London parade will be held on Saturday 2nd July 2022. This year is a significant year for the Pride movement and the LGBT+ community as we commemorate 50 Years since the first Pride took place in the United Kingdom.
The campaign for 2022 will commemorate the past 50 years and our evolution as a movement; acknowledging those torch bearers who have come before us and their achievements. As we celebrate and look forward to the next 50 years, we’ll recognise the challenges still faced by our community nationally and globally.
Participation in the parade gives the opportunity for expression of celebration, joy and triumph but also the voice to rightly express the continued fight for those injustices and inequalities that exist amongst us. On July 2nd, we want to make a powerful statement as we march towards progress; calling on the UK Govt to ban conversion therapy for all LGBT+ people, reform the Gender Recognition, provide equal protection for LGBT+ communities against hate crime, by making homophobic, biphobic or transphobic hate crime an aggravated crime in line with racial and religious hate crimes, end its hostile enviornment toward minority migrants, establish a national AIDS memorial that truly honours and remembers those who we have lost and the impact of HIV and Aids and to take a leading role in tackling the violence and discrimination against LGBT+ people around the globe.

FLIRTTOOL PRIDE STORY
STEVE AND JACKSON
It might have been chocolate, but the truth is that we don’t remember the flavor of the ice-cream that melted our lives in one forever.
We used to work in the West End as Front of House. And although we worked within the same theater company, we were based in different venues.
As a reward for his excellent customer service, Arif was nominated as a ‘Mystery Shopper’. He was gifted a night out at the theater, to another venue. As part of this, he had to evaluate the theater and its staff, choosing a winner, who would, in turn, become the next ‘Mystery Shopper’.
Mamma Mia’s interval was too short but long enough to witness the beginning of something beautiful. I, Steve, went looking to buy an ice-cream. That’s when I caught sight off and got lost in Jackson’s eyes. Suddenly nothing else mattered.
Just three months after that magical encounter, my theater was closed down for a couple of weeks, whilst they changed to a new play. I was sad and registered a account on Flirttool, and guess what happened? I found him in the matches of people in my near! What for a magical moment. It only took a couple of days for us to start flirting, and then we met each other again.
The rest is history, and here we are! Now, happier than ever, building our own Wonderland, and inspiring you to build yours!
