Today, the parent organization of Edgecomb Potters announced the acquisition of The York Antiques Gallery. On Friday, January 14, 2022, the Edgecomb Potters organization became the fourth owner of this landmark and 33-year-old business. Located at 746 US Route 1 (just off the I-95 York exit going north on Route 1), many shoppers view the store as the gateway and mainstay of antique shops in southern Maine.
“As one of Maine’s premier retailers, we are excited for the opportunity to put Edgecomb Potters on Route 1, in southern Maine, alongside the Simon Pierce Gallery, and fifty antique dealers,” stated Brad Hilton, president of the organization. “We feel this location is an important destination for the community of York and plan to continue our commitment to retail, Maine-made products, US Crafts, e-commerce, marketing, and events to create an even better experience for customers and community members.”
“After 13 years, we searched for the ‘right’ owner who planned to keep the antique business and employees,” said Dan Hartigan, owner of The York Antiques Gallery. “This past year was the best in the store’s 33-year history. We are excited to see customers once again valuing true antiques. We have cherished the history of the “Thompson Farm home and barn, and we did not want to see it torn down and become just another bank on Route 1. We are fortunate that Brad and his team saw the history and value of the location. We believe that Edgecomb Potters is the best new owner to continue the tradition.”
