The Second Lin'gao Fishing Culture Festival of 2024 is Now Open

Lingao, Hainan, China--(Newsfile Corp. - August 16, 2024) - On August 16, the opening ceremony of the second Lin'gao Fishing Culture Festival of 2024, hosted by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hainan Province, the Lin'gao County Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Lin'gao County People's Government, along with the "Sing Loudly by the Sea, Prosperous Fishing" fishing start-up ceremony, was held at the Wulian Fishing Port in Tiaolou Town, Lin'gao County.

At 11:30 a.m., the opening ceremony began with a dance performance titled "Sing Loudly for Prosperous Fishing." Wang Ting, Deputy Secretary of the Lin'gao County Committee and County Governor, and Lin Moxie, Member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hainan Province, delivered speeches. Wang Ting stated that Lin'gao is an important agricultural and fishing county in the province. The successful hosting of the fishing festival has greatly promoted Lin'gao's fishing culture and effectively enhanced its attractiveness, influence, and reputation. Lin'gao County will continue to use the Fishing Culture Festival as a platform to cultivate new momentum and vitality, focus on the construction of the "Three Districts and One Park," and concentrate on the development path of the "Five-Color Economy," contributing more to the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port. Lin Moxie mentioned that in recent years, Lin'gao has focused on the construction of a nationally significant central fishing port, deepened the development of the "marine ranch," and solidified the "blue granary," promoting the high-quality integrated development of fishing ports, fishing villages, and fisheries. This year, it successfully obtained approval for a national coastal fishing port economic zone, continuously improving the quality and efficiency of fisheries development. Lin'gao will continue to aim for the "Three Goals," seize policy opportunities, rely on its responsibilities and resource endowments, accelerate the transformation of the policy "opportunity period" into a development "golden period," vigorously promote the high-quality development of fisheries, and contribute to the accelerated construction of a marine powerhouse and the Hainan Free Trade Port.

"At this moment, I declare the fishing season open" at noon, with a command from Tang Shoubing, Secretary of the Lin'gao County Committee, a clear sound of whistles echoed. Over five hundred fishing boats docked at the Wulian Fishing Port in Tiaolou Town, Lin'gao County, set sail towards the South China Sea, braving the waves, and heading deep into the sea, beginning a new round of fishing and marine agriculture. This marks the end of the three-and-a-half-month closed fishing season in the South China Sea, as Lin'gao fishermen embark on a joyful and fruitful fishing journey.

The series of activities for this fishing festival will run until the 20th, under the theme "Sing Loudly by the Sea, Prosperous Fishing." During the Fishing Culture Festival, events such as the "Deep Plowing Azure, Win-Win Future" Lin'gao online investment promotion conference, the "Hainan's True My Hometown" Dongpo Poetry and Music Gathering, the second Lin'gao Fishermen's Song Festival "Li Li Mei" and Lin'gao Puppet Show mass performance, the "Fresh Taste of the South China Sea" wild seafood tasting event, and the opening ceremony of key supporting projects for the second phase of the Hainan Western (Lin'gao) International Aquatic Products Trading Market will be held. Additionally, there will be activities like the "Fate of Pomelo" Lin'gao Pomelo Industry Park tour and parent-child picking, the "Slow Fishing Time" International Fishing Competition, market activities to "Explore Longevity Slow City and Enjoy Special Cuisine," the "Sunrise in Lin'gao" healthy running event, the "Sailing Dreams" Lin'gao Window sailboat and windsurfing experience activities, and the "Beach Volleyball Race" with 11 events.

In April of this year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced the list of pilot national coastal fishing port economic zones for 2024, with a total of 8 entries nationwide, including Lin'gao County in Hainan Province making the list. It is known that Lin'gao County has ranked first in the province for total fishery output for 25 consecutive years, with the total fishery output value accounting for over 45% of the county's GDP, making it a key pillar industry in the county's economy. In 2023, the fishery production volume reached 412,852 tons, including 379,729 tons from marine fishing, 28,957 tons from marine aquaculture, 3,805 tons from freshwater aquaculture, and 360 tons from freshwater fishing. The total fishery production value in the county was 15.4997 billion yuan.

Wang Zhaowei, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau of Lin'gao County, stated that this fishing culture festival aims to accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the county's marine fishing industry, promote investment attraction and the implementation of industrial projects, and support the construction of the "Three Districts and One Park" and the high-quality development of the "Five-Color Economy."
