On January 17, 2008 Independent Bank Corp. and Slade’s Ferry Bancorp. jointly announced today by press release a special meeting of shareholders of Slade’s Ferry Bancorp to approve the acquisition. A copy of the press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.2.
