Rain chances gradually die down overnight, next big weather maker returns for the weekend

Hello everyone, I'm meteorologist Mike Mays in the WRL Severe Weather Center with our forecast update. When you step out in the morning, it will likely be overcast, but it will be dry. Low pressures moved out. We'll have low clouds and maybe some fog, warm to start the day, perhaps 68 for the low. There may be many locations that hover around 70 to start the day. By 10 a.m. we're about 75 with mostly cloudy skies. Now, it's morning clouds, but that's not. to be the theme of the day. Later in the afternoon, partly cloudy skies are expected. Our high reaching the upper 80s. Late in the day, we're going to notice some thunderstorms on the dual Doppler 5000 radar coming in from the north and west, and some should enter the area by 7 and 8 o'clock, uh, so we'll be on the lookout for perhaps a strong to severe storm in our western counties. Now, we have 3 days ahead that have the risk for severe weather. For the day Friday, it's our western counties. You can see the dark green for Orange County, parts of Chatham County, parts of Moore County, damaging wind gusts and hail. Saturday, a level 2 threat will probably have a watch issued, probably a severe thunderstorm watch. And then on Sunday there's a risk, the possibility for thunderstorms that could be strong to severe in our eastern counties. That's what we're going to be watching out for. Now we had quite a bit of rain across the area for our Thursday. Sanford, Lee County have flash flood warnings. There was 3 to 5 inches of rain. A lot of other locations saw rain as well. We have more rain on the way for our Friday, about a 40% chance for storms in the evening and overnight, 50/50 shots Saturday and Saturday night. Weather alert day. There may be another weather alert day for the day on Sunday, 70% chance for showers and storms, and more rain. on Tuesday and even Monday, a small chance for storm. Hearing on Facebook from viewers downeast saying farmers don't need any more rain, but there is more rain in the forecast. So it's either feast or famine around here these days. Either it's too dry or it's too wet. We can never seem to be where we need to be. So showers end overnight, mid-60s to about 70 for the lows. In the morning, we expect an overcast, but later in the afternoon, it should be hotter and drier, upper 80s to about 90 degrees. That's our forecast update. Have a great night. See you tomorrow.
