Due to the current world situation, nations globally are experiencing a healthcare capacity crisis, especially with the rise of mental health concerns. Pat Cash has taken the initiative to help take the pressure off these institutions by empowering children to increase their confidence, self-esteem, and create a positive, healthy & successful future.

Due to the uncertain circumstances and increasing lockdown measures, children have been one of the most vulnerable groups, facing increasing anxieties, fears, and emotional challenges. In fact, early results from the Co-SPACE (COVID-19 Supporting Parents, Adolescents, and Children in Epidemics) study, led by experts at the Oxford University, showed that parents and carers of children aged 4-10 years old, reported that over a one-month span in lockdown: “saw increases in their child’s emotional difficulties, such as feeling unhappy, worried, being clingy and experiencing physical symptoms associated with worry”.

Professor Cathy Creswell, Professor of Developmental Clinical Psychology, University of Oxford, and co-leading the study, said: “Prioritising the mental health of children and young people throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond is critical.”

During these times it’s more important than ever to empower the younger generation to take responsibility for their own mental wellbeing and give them the tools they need to thrive in an ever-changing and uncertain world. The Happy Kids Affirmation Cards have countless benefits for the mental wellbeing of children and adults alike. They can be used on a daily basis as a daily mindfulness tool to calm worries, decrease stress and enhance wellbeing while nurturing their authentic self, and helping them to enjoy the magic of childhood. They can empower both adults and kids to unwind, relax and connect with each other to build a healthy and strong long-term relationship.

Ella Parry’s mission is to raise more happy kids in the world as well as empower parents and teachers to take action and inspire their children to develop a positive attitude when they are young. Her childhood, unfortunately, was filled with traumas and challenges that she hopes no kids should ever face.

Ella was born among 8 siblings, with dark skin and curly hair, in a Cambodian Chinese immigrant family. In 1975 when she was just a few years old, Ella’s family escaped from war-torn Cambodia to Thailand, then Macau, and finally landed in Hong Kong, which at the time was an illegal entrance for immigrants. She had to face years of separation from her mother and other siblings while going through the turmoil of moving to a foreign country. In school, she was made fun of and discriminated against because of the colour of her skin and curly hair. The emotional issues surfaced later when she struggled with low self-esteem, lack of confidence and depression. It was in illustrating that she found refuge and comfort, which became her spiritual support & strength.

Little Curly was born in her heart as a reflection of her positive Self who was happy & free. Her mission was to spread the message that everyone is equal, regardless of their history, culture, race, gender, or belief system. Ella has designed a series of products for Little Curly to help her fulfil her mission. The main product, Happy Kids Affirmation Cards, was recently launched on Kickstarter to raise funds to print the first large batch of products to ship out to thousands of kids worldwide.
