One of the World's Largest Chandeliers is from Austria

Kny Design supplies chandelier for new mosque in Oman.

RAMINGDORF, AUSTRIA, March 20, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kny Design of Austria is about to deliver another masterpiece of lighting, in the form of the central chandelier for the Sultan Qaboos Mosque in the oasis city of Nizwa, in the Sultanate of Oman. Not only is this chandelier the largest one the company has made so far, but it is also one of the three largest in the world. It is about 12 m tall and took six months to manufacture at the factory in Ramingsdorf, Lower Austria. CEO Harald Kny says: "For us, the order is proof of how much the clients value our engineering, creativity and workmanship. We are very pleased to be installing another one of our one-off lighting designs in Oman, where we have already successfully completed two other large projects."

The chandelier will be packed in containers in mid March, and will travel to Oman by rail and sea. On location in Nizwa, the installation will be supervised by experts from Kny Design and is planned to take about a month. The chandelier includes highly complex shapes which were made possible by Kny's own special casting techniques. The lighting design is also very special and is another field in which the Austrian family-run company considers itself a technology leader. The order is worth around 750,000 euro.

High-Tech Niche Supplier in the Third Generation

Harald Kny represents the third generation running the family business out of Ramingdorf in Lower Austria.
