Tony Chachere Brings Louisiana Cooking To Narconon Louisiana

Well known Louisiana chef brings creole cooking to life at Narconon Louisiana drug and alcohol rehab.

BATON ROUGE, LA, June 03, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In Louisiana, Tony Chachere's Creole spice is a staple and you can find it in the cabinet of any true Louisianian. Recently, Anthony Lil' Tony Chachere and his crew spiced up the day of students at New Life Retreat. They treated the whole facility to a meal of fresh seafood; fried soft shell crab, fried shrimp, crawfish etouffee and fried catfish.

The well-known Louisiana brand started when Tony's grandfather, also Tony Chachere started cooking his creole style of seafood almost 100 years ago and since then the Tony Chachere brand has set the standard for creole seasoning. The name has been passed down to his father and then to him.

The local favorite provided a needed break to the often difficult but highly rewarding work done at the Louisiana drug and alcohol rehabilitation center by both students and staff. Breaks like this are an important part of recovery because they teach former drug addict's how to find enjoyment in everyday life.

Each dish was hand-seasoned with care by Tony and his crew. The kitchen was bustling as they prepared some of the best seafood ever, filling the air with the spicy and salty aroma of creole seasoning.

When Tony announced the food was ready, faces lit up and people lined up almost out the door to be served by Tony himself. Each bite was light and flaky and served with a savory homemade tarter sauce. Deep fried soft shell crab, shrimp and catfish along with potato salad and cole slaw filled everyone's plates.

"We really loved having Tony come and cook for our students," said Kelley Keeney, Facility Administrator at Narconon Louisiana, "They all enjoyed it immensely and we want to thank him for this wonderful experience."

The life skills taught at Narconon provide valuable tools to teach students how to live life free from the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol. Including local culture by hosting events such as this one is part of what makes the program unique.
