The Clarion List’s public database of art service companies in US is now live, offers transparent single-stop hub for art company information
NEW YORK - Feb. 1, 2016 - PRLog -- The team at The Clarion List is thrilled to announce the launch of their online art services directory with ratings and reviews (www.clarionlist.com), marking the first time that such a comprehensive database for art services has ever been available to the general public.

The platform was created by ex-Christie’s executives Jessica Paindiris and Gaia Banovich in order to add a new layer of transparency and efficiency to the notoriously opaque art market that typically relies on word-of-mouth and insider referrals. The duo’s mission is to disrupt how the art market does business by revealing the thousands of companies in the art services market in a “one-stop” directory and providing public feedback of these companies via ratings and reviews.

“More and more new art collectors are entering the market globally, many of whom are younger and more tech-savvy than collectors in the past. New and experienced collectors alike are increasingly comfortable with buying and selling art online. And, crowd-sourced review platforms like Yelp and Angie’s List are as popular as ever. The art services market is primed for this type of transparency and we couldn’t be more excited to provide it.” — Jessica Paindiris, CEO & Co-Founder.

New collectors in particular can find the art market formidable and at times can be lucky to get even one referral to someone in the industry when they decide to start investing in art. Now, with The Clarion List, they can search for an art consultant without any referral and can contact several at once to seek services that fit their needs and budget. Those looking for a one-off service, such as art storage or art transport, can also reach out directly to these specialized companies without any middleman.

Currently, The Clarion List offers more than 2,400 listings of art service companies across 23 art service categories, including art consultants, art appraisers, art conservators, art law firms, collection management software, auction houses, art market researchers, art accountants, art framers, art fund managers, art galleries, private art dealers, art transport and storage companies, art recruiters, art PR firms, art lenders, art insurance companies, art lighting firms and art leasing firms. Users may refine their search results within these categories by location, specialty (i.e., Impressionist art appraisers), years of experience and company size.

For example, within the “art consultants” category, the directory lists companies ranging from large firms with offices nationwide like Winston Art Group to newer, smaller companies such as Clara Arts based out of Brooklyn. Even art market veterans will discover new art service companies, such as art leasing firms like TurningArt.com and art specialized family offices like the Erskine Company. The result is a much more connected “art world” nationwide.

Currently, The Clarion List lists companies located in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Miami and Palm Beach, with more geographic markets coming soon. They also list online companies, including e-commerce platforms and stolen art databases.

The Clarion List team conducts extensive research to create the database and adds and updates listings weekly based on user submissions and internal research. All basic listings are free and the directory is available for searching at no cost to users.

Also found on The Clarion List is an editorial vertical about the business of art, including original articles plus curated content about collecting, maintaining and servicing art collections. Recent original articles include an explanation of the benefits of working with a private art dealer, a discussion of the many services provided by an art conservator aside from conservation, an investigation into collection management and a primer on how art appraisers value art in today’s market.
