Q1 Labs' Andrew Hay Named Industry Thought Leader for Log Management by the SANS Technology Institute

Q1 Labs, a leading network security management company, today announced that Andrew Hay, Integration Services Program Manager for Q1 Labs, was named a thought leader in the area of log management by the SANS Technology Institute. As the most trusted and largest source for information security training, certification and research in the world, the SANS Institute works with some of the most advanced thinkers and technologists in the area of network security.

Spearheaded by Stephen Northcutt, president of the SANS Technology Institute, the Thought Leader project was developed to recognize security professionals in the industry who meet the SANS Institutes definition of a Thought Leader - someone who is recognized by their peers as a thought leader, who passes their information on to help others, who has innovative ideas, and who shares ideas as actionable distilled insights.

A well-respected and well-known security technologist and published author with over 10 years experience in product development and consulting, Hay has worked with Fortune 500 companies, non-profits, and federal, state and local government organizations, to identify and protect against a myriad of enterprise network security issues. Andrews intimate knowledge of security issues and his innate ability to project future threats and trends are key reasons for SANS recognition of Andrew as a thought leader in the area of log management, said Stephen Northcutt, president, SANS Technology Institute.

SANS Toronto 2008

Hay has also been invited to participate in the SANS Toronto 2008 (Toronto, ON, May 10-16, 2008) keynote panel Future Trends in Network Security which will look at the future trends, risks, and threats facing organizations today.

As malicious code and other attacks increase in intensity, organizations now have little time to react and must take a proactive stance on the issue of network security. The panelists in-depth, cross-industry experience allows them to give relevant examples in every instance while providing IT managers and administrators an intense look at the security issues most relevant today. Other panelists participating in the keynote session scheduled for Sunday, May 11, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. and moderated by Rob Lee, will include Bryce Galbraith, Peter Giannoulis, Jason Lam, Dave Shackleford, Dr. Johannes Ullrich, Stephen Sim, and Guy Bruneau.
