Datatel, Inc. today announced that Moraine Valley Community College has selected Datatel Colleague® and Datatel ActiveCampus® Portal software solutions to create a Strategic Academic Enterprise that supports student success. The college considers the newly acquired Datatel technology, which replaces a legacy administration system, critical to accomplishing the institution’s mission. Moraine Valley is the 16th community college in Illinois to become a Datatel client.
A committee consisting of campus-wide representatives unanimously chose Datatel after an 18-month evaluation of administrative software systems from industry vendors. “Colleague best satisfied the most critical requirements of the groups represented on our selection team,” said Jack Leifel, chief information officer at Moraine Valley. “The committee was impressed with Colleague’s strong student system, an extremely important feature for a community college such as ours. Datatel’s active user community in Illinois was also very impressive, providing a forum to share information and learn best practices.”
In addition to Colleague, which will provide support for student enrollment and services, financial management, and human resources, Moraine Valley will deploy Datatel’s ActiveCampus Portal, a user-customizable workgroup collaboration and social networking system. Built on Microsoft SharePoint technology, ActiveCampus Portal provides a single point of access for everyone across campus.

Moraine Valley Community College, founded in 1967, is a comprehensive community college located on a 294-acre campus in Palos Hills, Ill. The college has an enrollment of 48,000 credit and noncredit students, and is ranked in the top 8 percent in associate degrees conferred, out of 1,186 community colleges nationwide.
