Proskauer Adds Prominent Finance & Commercial Lawyer Steven O. Weise in Los Angeles

Proskauer Rose LLP, a global law firm with 800 lawyers worldwide, announced that Steven O. Weise, an internationally recognized authority in finance and commercial law, has joined the firm as a partner in the Los Angeles office.

Prior to joining Proskauer, Mr. Weise was a shareholder of Heller Ehrman LLP. His diverse practice encompasses all areas of finance and commercial law, including financings, workouts, guarantees, sales of goods, equipment leasing, letters of credit, commercial paper and checks and investment securities. His experience also covers consumer law compliance and general corporate matters. In addition, he is a leading authority on the Uniform Commercial Code, general contract law, e-commerce and legal opinion letters.

Mr. Weise is the latest partner to join Proskauer’s Los Angeles office, which recently welcomed Nancy Sher Cohen and Rene Siemens to its Insurance Coverage Practice Group. He joins one of the region’s most prominent corporate groups, which was recently named among the top transactional practices in Southern California by the Los Angeles Daily Journal.

Mr. Weise is a member of the Permanent Editorial Board for the UCC, an American Law Institute member of the current UCC Article 9 Drafting Committee and was the American Bar Association’s Advisor to the UCC Article 9 Drafting Committee. He is the ABA’s representative to the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law Working Group on Secured Transactions and the recipient of the 2007 Business Law Section Lifetime Achievement Award, given by the State Bar of California. Mr. Weise received his J.D. from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley and his B.A. from Yale University.
