Eli Lilly's (NYSE: LLY) Alzheimer's treatment solanezumab failed a Phase III clinical trial.
Nimble Storage (NYSE: NMBL) widened losses for the third quarter.
In the broad market, declining issues outpaced advancers by a margin of more than 7 to 5 on the NYSE while decliners barely edged out advancers by a slim margin on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 lost 4 points to 2,202. Bitcoin fell $7 to $737.
