Agentic AI Emerging as Enterprise Game-Changer

By: Information Services Group, Inc. via Business Wire
October 27, 2025 at 09:00 AM EDT

Increasingly autonomous systems advancing from experimentation to deployment and simple agents to multi-agent solutions, ISG Provider Lens® report says

Enterprises are experimenting with and adopting early forms of agentic AI, a transition that is already beginning to change how they think about productivity, decision-making and business transformation, according to a new research report published today by Information Services Group (ISG) (Nasdaq: III), a global AI-centered technology research and advisory firm.

The 2025 ISG Provider Lens® global Agentic AI Services report finds that organizations are starting to integrate autonomous agents into business workflows to optimize productivity and streamline processes. Experimentation is still more common than scaled adoption, but enterprise initiatives are gaining momentum, with companies redesigning data architectures and governance frameworks to support more agents with greater autonomy.

“Agentic AI represents a significant step beyond traditional automation, allowing systems to make contextual decisions and collaborate across functions,” said Steve Hall, chief AI officer, ISG. “Organizations are assembling the building blocks of autonomous intelligence throughout the enterprise with governance and accountability.”

Most agentic AI deployments today are simple and model-driven, with agents acting toward predefined objectives with structured prompts and constrained logic, but projects are growing more ambitious. Companies are using agents for auditing functions, monitoring transactions and flagging anomalies. Agentic AI is also delivering tangible benefits in software development, with agents generating code, running tests and detecting vulnerabilities. The market is progressing toward ensembles of specialized agents and eventually multiagent systems, with orchestration frameworks playing a central role in optimizing agent collaboration.

Data readiness is emerging as a critical enabler for adoption, ISG says. Agentic systems require real-time, decision-grade data that many traditional architectures cannot provide. They create context from raw inputs rather than relying on application logic. To meet these requirements, companies are modernizing data infrastructure to provide real-time data access and seamless integration across platforms. This shift also underscores the need for consistent data governance to ensure agents can act effectively within compliance boundaries.

The need for workforce readiness is also shaping enterprise adoption, the report says. As digital agents become operational co-workers, organizations are emphasizing transparency, communication and training to foster trust and accountability. They are creating new frameworks for human-agent collaboration, supported by clear escalation rules and defined oversight structures that align with regulatory and ethical standards.

“Agentic AI will redefine enterprise operating models,” said Gowtham Kumar Sampath, principal analyst, ISG Provider Lens Research, and lead author of the report. “Organizations that balance innovation with governance and talent development will be best positioned to realize its full potential.”

The report also explores other trends in agentic AI, including the evolution of provider pricing and procurement models and the increasing use of prebuilt accelerators and domain-specific modules.
