Global educational services provider Kaplan announces that Ella Mayor, a Regents scholar at UC Berkeley, has won its $20K Tuition Sweepstakes, which will help her finance her future medical school education.

Ella, a freshman who graduated from Santa Susana High School in Simi Valley, California, said she was shocked at winning the sweepstakes, and knows it will help her achieve her long term career goals:

“Four years of medical school cost well over $200,000, which is why financial support like this is so meaningful. This will not only allow me to pursue my journey to serve as a doctor in underserved communities across the world, but it will also significantly reduce the financial burden for me and my family. Ella, a dedicated volunteer, public speaker, and healthcare advocate, plans to pursue a MD/PhD with a focus on neurosurgery, health equity, philosophy, and stem cell research.

Over the past two decades, Kaplan has held numerous sweepstakes and contests to help students further their educational and career goals, awarding tens of thousands of dollars in the process, in addition to free test prep courses for admissions exams like the GRE®, GMAT®, LSAT®, and MCAT®. This particular sweepstakes was open to all enrolled college students in the United States; Kaplan drew one name at random, with the winner being notified shortly thereafter.
