GOLD LION HIGHLIGHTS NORTH AMERICAN LITHIUM EXPLORATION UPSHOT IN LIGHT OF RECENT CHILEAN LITHIUM POLICY

By: Gold Lion Resources Inc. via GlobeNewswire
May 01, 2023 at 08:00 AM EDT

Vancouver, British Columbia, May 01, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Gold Lion Resources Inc. (“Gold Lion” or the “Company”) (CSE: GL) (OTC: GLIOF) (FWB: 2BC) is pleased to provide comments on the recent announcement of the new National Lithium Policy (“NLP”) in Chile.

Chilean President Gabriel Boric announced a highly anticipated National Lithium Policy ("NLP") on April 20, 2023. The NLP is expected to function as a roadmap for future exploration and exploitation of lithium resources in Chile with future lithium contracts granted only as public-private partnerships with state control. The decision to nationalize Chilean lithium and potentially remove it as a supplier further underscores the necessity to develop sustainable domestic lithium production within North America.

The Chilean NLP further underpins the plight of Electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers, which now are faced with a net new obstacle in their quest to secure battery materials. Mexico nationalized its lithium deposits in 2022, while Indonesia prohibited exports of nickel ore, an essential component of batteries, in 2020.

Gold Lion’s 2,950 hectares Mia Li-3 Lithium Project is located approximately 15 km northwest of Q2 Metals Corp.’s (“Q2”) Mia Li-1 and Mia Li-2 projects (the “Mia Li-1 & 2 Projects”) in the James Bay region of Quebec. Quebec has long been regarded as a world-class mining judication with advanced infrastructure, favourable policy and government incentives, as well as access to skilled human capital. The Company anticipates commencing fully-funded fieldwork on its Mia Li-3 Lithium Project in June of 2023.
