A lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California on behalf of investors AppLovin between May 10, 2023 and February 25, 2025, inclusive, alleging violations of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 against the Company and certain of its senior officers.
According to the lawsuit, Defendants made misrepresentations concerning the Company’s use of “cutting-edge AI technologies” that purportedly matched advertisements to mobile games. AppLovin also allegedly reported impressive financial results and guidance to investors while using dishonest advertising practices. The truth emerged when analyst research reports revealed that AppLovin was exploiting advertising data and utilizing manipulative practices to artificially inflate its own ad click-through and download rates, erroneously inflating installation numbers and, in turn, its profit figures.
