Lily pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Washington, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in International Security and a minor in Law, Societies, and Justice. Before obtaining her Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law, Lily honed her legal skills as a paralegal at a family law firm in the Pierce and South King County regions. During her law school years, Lily had the privilege of interning with Associate Chief Justice Charles W. Johnson at the Washington Supreme Court. Additionally, she represented low-income tenants facing eviction as a Rule 9 Legal Intern for the King County Bar Association's Housing Justice Project.
