UPDATE 2-Cargill 3rd-qtr profit drops on $161 million U.S. tax charge

April 5 (Reuters) - Global commodities trader Cargill Inc reported a 23.8 percent drop in quarterly earnings on Thursday after a $161 million net charge stemming from the new U.S. tax law that allows corporations to repatriate offshore earnings by paying a one-time tax.
