PR Log - Jan 19, 2012 - Radio personality, Ray Leonard who hosts "Ordinary People Extraordinary Planet" was rushed by ambulance to the Metro Health Emergency Room in Wyoming, Michigan after fighting Flu like symptoms for more than twelve hours. Once at Metro Health, Ray received IV fluids and a cocktail of drugs which included Dialaudid, Toradol along with two doses of Zofran.
In a statement released by Ray Leonard he says, "I finally broke down and had my wife call for an ambulance to get some medical attention. I don't think I would have gone by ambulance, if I wouldn't have waited so long for help. But, because I waited my conditions got very serious. I had been vomiting and had diarrhea for 12 hours and without medical attention my symptoms became more serious because of my dehydration. My wife at one point asked me if I knew her name and although I did I still had to think about it. My concentration levels were way off and several times I felt like I was going to pass. The two valuable lessons I have learned from this experience are, first to listen to my MD wife who believes in preventative medicine and go out and get a Flu Vaccination. The second valuable lesson I learned was not to wait so long to get some kind of help. I have to remember that Influenza kills people every year.
Ray says that he feels much better, but he wants everyone out there to at least consider the Flu Vaccination, so that you won't have to go through the same painful experience.
A small note, Ray will not be on air this week with a new program but will return the following weekend. - - -
