NEW YORK, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- ConvergEx, a leading provider of investment and execution technologies to institutional clients worldwide, today announced that it has retained James Elkins, a founder of Elkins McSherry, as a consultant to the firm's Plan Sponsor businesses and the consultants who advise pension plans. As one of the foremost authorities on global trade cost analysis, Mr. Elkins will work with ConvergEx to advise how customized transition management strategies can be used to reduce the costs associated with portfolio restructuring.

Mr. Elkin's career has spanned almost 40 years. Before retiring in 2004, Mr. Elkins was president of Elkins McSherry, a firm specializing in global equity trading cost studies for many of the world's largest pension funds, investment managers, banks, brokers and global stock exchanges. Mr. Elkins also served as a member of the Elkins McSherry board of directors after the company sold a majority stake to State Street Corporation in 1999.* In addition, during the period from 1999 to 2004, he launched the New York branch office of State Street Brokerage Services.
Prior to co-founding Elkins McSherry, he spent ten years as a floor partner on the New York and American Stock Exchanges. He also helped to establish the upstairs institutional trading desk at Abel Noser Corporation, where he managed all trading.
Mr. Elkins holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from New York University.
