Gold and silver saw a huge sell-off on Monday as investors pulled money out of commodities. The panic selling earlier this week pushed gold prices below $1,400 an ounce level. Shares of Yamana Gold Inc. rose sharply on Thursday, reversing some of the recent losses. The stock ended the day 3.42% higher at $11.48 on above average volume of 15.68 million. Despite the significant gains yesterday, the gold mining company's shares have fallen nearly 3.30% in the last three sessions. The stock has fallen more than 33% in 2013 so far as gold prices have come under pressure. Shares of Allied Nevada Gold Corp. also edged higher yesterday even as the broad market slipped. The stock closed 1.72% higher at $10.63 on above average volume of 2.95 million. Coeur d'Alene Mines Corporation shares rose sharply in Thursday's trading session. The stock, initially, fell to a 52-week low of $13.31.
