Lincoln College of Technology Launches CNC Machining & Manufacturing Program in Grand Prairie

WEST ORANGE, N.J., Nov. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Lincoln Educational Services Corporation (NASDAQ: LINC), a national leader in specialized technical training and a driving force in helping students turn their passion into professional success, inaugurated its Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machining and Manufacturing Technology program on October 23 at the Grand Prairie, TX campus of Lincoln College of Technology.  Representatives from Haas Automation joined Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen, Lincoln executives, local employers, and members of the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce to mark the occasion in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to launch a program designed to meet the growing needs of CNC manufacturers throughout the state.

"Opportunities in this field are projected to grow 37% across Texas," says Lincoln's President and COO Scott Shaw.  "Our CNC Machining program will prepare students to join an industry that's helping bring about a shift in our nation's economy.  The National Association of Manufacturers reports there are 12 million Americans employed in manufacturing careers today.  Last year, the manufacturing industry contributed more than $1.8 trillion to the U.S. economy, $140 billion more than the prior year.  The industry is growing, and it's driving a need for entry-level CNC operators and set-up technicians around the country."

Attendees had the opportunity to tour the Lincoln campus, including the newly-named HAAS CNC Technology Center, and to take part in dynamic machining demonstrations on equipment from HAAS—which has entrusted nearly a quarter of a million dollars in new CNC machines to the campus.  Vinnie DiMartino, celebrated mechanic and machinist of Discovery Channel's "American Chopper" Series and owner of DiMartino Motorsports, was also on hand to meet guests and sign autographs.

Paul McGuirk, Executive Director of the Grand Prairie campus, says the event was made all the more special by the presence of individuals such as Mayor Jensen, HAAS Vice President Peter Zierhut, and Todd Ellard, President of the National Tooling and Manufacturing Association (NTMA).

"When dignitaries such as these come to our campus to help celebrate the launch of a program like CNC Machining, it's a great honor that also speaks to the quality of the training we deliver," says McGuirk.  "We appreciate the support from the state of Texas, the city of Grand Prairie, the NTMA, and our partners at HAAS."

Mayor Jensen remarked that Lincoln's CNC program will be a benefit not only to the students it trains, but to the Grand Prairie community at large.  "Lincoln College of Technology has consistently sought out new ways of helping to support businesses and employers around the city and throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area," Jensen says.  "With so many manufacturers modernizing their facilities and bringing CNC Technology into their processes, Lincoln's program will generate the manpower keeping them at the forefront of their industries.  That's a win for our area businesses and for the community as a whole."

Lincoln's first CNC Machining and Manufacturing Technology classes will start on November 13.  The diploma program will prepare graduates to sit for Level 1 Certifications, which demonstrate mastery of machining materials, job planning and safety, MasterCAM software, and manufacturing processes such as CNC milling and turning.

Lincoln continues to seek out and establish new partnerships and programs around the country to bridge the skills gap between the abilities of the workforce and the needs of employers.  The 152,000+ square foot Grand Prairie campus will offer certificate and diploma programs in CNC Machining and Manufacturing Technology, in addition to its current programs in Automotive, Diesel and Truck Technology, Collision Repair and Refinishing, and Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Heating (HVAC) Technology.
