Box Ships Inc. Declares Quarterly Dividend on its 9.00% Series C Cumulative Redeemable Perpetual Preferred Shares

ATHENS, Greece, Dec. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Box Ships Inc. (NYSE:TEU) (the "Company") today announced that its Board of Directors declared a cash dividend of $0.5625 per share on its 9.00% Series C Cumulative Redeemable Perpetual Preferred Shares (the "Series C Preferred Shares") (NYSE:TEUPRC) for the period from October 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013. The dividend will be paid on January 2, 2014 to all holders of Series C Preferred Shares of record as of December 31, 2013.

The Company has 916,333 Series C Preferred Shares outstanding as of the date of this press release. Dividends on the Series C Preferred Shares are payable on January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1 of each year. This is the second consecutive quarterly cash dividend the Company has declared on the Series C Preferred Shares since they were first issued on July 29, 2013.

The declaration and payment of any future dividend will be determined at the sole discretion of the Company's board of directors.
