Webster Continues Optimization of Banking Centers

WATERBURY, Conn., Feb. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Webster Bank (NYSE: WBS), a leading regional bank serving businesses and consumers from metro New York to Boston, Mass., announced today the next steps in its ongoing optimization of banking centers.  This includes the renovation of the City Place II location in Downtown Hartford, Conn., and the May 16, 2014 closing of banking centers located at 2270 Silas Deane Highway in Rocky Hill, Conn., and 561 Hazard Avenue in Enfield, Conn.

"This new, state-of-the-art banking center in the heart of Connecticut's Capital City reiterates our commitment to providing best-in-class service to our customers, giving it a more personalized, neighborhood feel," said Nitin Mhatre, executive vice president, Head of Community Banking at Webster.  "The renovation of this banking center is part of our growth strategy that includes investing in the future to address the rapidly evolving preferences and expectations of the consumers and business community that we serve."

Some of the exciting new features in the new 2,976-square foot facility include:  a "pod" system instead of a traditional teller line to provide a very open space that's conducive to more personal interaction; 24-hour walk-up deposit automated ATM; electronic coin counting machine; digital video displays; and Universal Bankers for one point of contact for your consumer and business needs.

"The closing of two of our banking centers reflects the fact that customers increasingly are managing their finances using online banking and smartphones and do not visit banking centers as often as they once did," said Rosemary Gaidos, executive vice president, Consumer Deposits and Webster Investment Services.

"We will continue to serve our consumers and businesses that currently bank at these two locations via nearby Webster banking centers and are committed to providing an exceptional customer experience with both face-to-face and electronic banking services across the Webster footprint."

Webster will continue to serve businesses and consumers from existing banking centers elsewhere in both the Rocky Hill and Enfield communities.  In Rocky Hill, a Webster banking center is located at 377 Cromwell Avenue, less than two miles away, and offers the added convenience of extended hours.  In Enfield, a Webster banking center located at 50 Freshwater Boulevard is less than 3.5 miles away.  It also offers extended hours.  Customers can also utilize WebsterOnline.com, mobile banking, ATMs, and Webster's Customer Care Center (800-995-9995) to conduct their banking.
