"The competition was challenging and fun, and we are so grateful to Vail Resorts for not only the invitation to participate but their considerable generosity," said Larissa Herda, tw telecom Chairman and CEO and captain of Team Herda.  "At the end of the day, those who really benefit are the children and people who are served by all of these wonderful organizations. That is what makes this all worthwhile."

"The Vail Ski Challenge is a perfect example of teamwork that makes a difference.  We are forever grateful to Vail Resorts for their creativity and generosity in coming up with the challenge, and to our unbelievably dedicated and wonderful team from tw telecom who gave so much of themselves to win this challenge for us.  And we are most grateful for the support this provides to the children and families we serve," said Diana Goldberg, Executive Director of SungateKids.

After nearly five months of skiing at the 26 ski resorts associated with Vail Resorts' Epic Pass, ten teams fought to the end to win Vail Resorts charitable dollars for their charity of choice. When the Challenge came to an end the top three teams were:

  • Gold Medal: Team Herda, captained by Larissa Herda (Chairman & CEO of tw telecom), $100,000 Vail Resorts donation to SungateKids
  • Silver Medal: Team Salem, captained by Hassan Salem (President of US Bank Colorado), $65,000 Vail Resorts donation to Judi's House
  • Bronze Medal:  Team Lynne, captained by Donna Lynne (President of Kaiser Permanente Colorado), $40,000 Vail Resorts donation to Denver Public Schools Foundation

"Thank you to all the Team Captains, charities, and participants for making the Vail Ski Challenge a huge success.  We were thrilled by the dedication and passion each team demonstrated for its charity, and we could not be happier to award the $250,000 event purse to these ten deserving organizations – we know these dollars will directly benefit the great work each charity does in Colorado," said Rob Katz, Chairman and CEO, Vail Resorts.

Charities receiving charitable contributions from this year's Vail Ski Challenge are:  A Precious Child, ACE Scholarships, Children's Hospital Colorado, Craig Hospital, Concerts for Kids, Denver Public Schools Foundation, Judi's House, RailsBridge, SungateKids, and Urban Peak.
