The case study follows the work of Dr. Patrick Schaumont, Associate Professor of Computer Sciences at Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE).  Dr. Schaumont leads research that centers on cryptography and how it relates to hardware and software, a crucial piece of making computers secure conveyors of information.  Intel provides cutting edge software to the department so that students can get hands-on exposure to coursework in cryptographic algorithms and how they can be implemented successfully in both big data systems and small, embedded systems like handheld devices.

Intel is instrumental at both the curriculum and research level of this important work that helps to define safe industry standards for data protection.  This commitment to both web security and systems performance on the part of both Intel and Virginia Tech will ensure that the next generation of computer engineers can work collaboratively and comprehensively.  "Intel has really help shape this research so that the academic and engineering communities can take the technology to the next level of safety and efficiency," says Dr. Schaumont.
