Students at Florida Virtual Academy charter schools Head Back to School

LARGO, Fla., Aug. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Students attending Florida Virtual Academy public charter schools in eight counties across the state began the 2014-2015 school year on August 18, 2014.

Each of the Florida Virtual Academy charter schools use the award-winning K¹² curriculum and provide support from Florida-certified teachers. The online charter schools offer students highly individualized learning opportunities and thriving online communities.

Students who enroll in these online public charter schools follow an academic program that includes engaging web-based lessons along with instructional materials – books, videos, CDs and other hands-on tools and resources – which are shipped directly to each student's home. Teachers provide instruction, guidance and support, and regularly interact with students and parents via email, web-based classrooms, online discussions, phone and face-to-face meetings.  Teachers also organize numerous field trips and school activities where students have the opportunity to participate in events that blend academics and socialization.

The online charter schools provide core courses in Language Arts, Math, Science, History, World Languages and Art, while the high school curriculum offers more than 90 core, elective and Advanced Placement® (AP®) courses. Students can also choose to participate in a variety of extracurricular groups and clubs.
