Rasmussen College to Host Free Community Career Fairs Nationwide

MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Rasmussen College, a regionally accredited private college and Public Benefit Corporation, is hosting free a Community Career Fair on Sept. 8-12 at 20 Rasmussen College campus locations across the country. As the national job market continues to improve, more Americans are looking to change jobs or career fields. The free, biannual Career Fair is designed to help job seekers make their dream careers real by connecting them with local employers, educating them on industry trends, introducing them to potential careers and helping them identify education and experience requirements as they begin the job-search process.

"The timing couldn't be better for those looking to change jobs or start a new career as the number of jobs available is at a 13-year high," said Tamryn Hennessy, vice president of career services and public benefit initiatives at Rasmussen College. "People who stayed put during the recession are feeling more confident to move on to greener pastures—but many are not just looking for a new employer. Job seekers are searching for their dream career, one that better aligns with their skills and interests."

According to a recent study by job-search site Indeed, 85 percent of job seekers who are already employed are looking for work outside their current occupations. A survey conducted on behalf of Rasmussen College in February 2014 showed a similar trend, with 45 percent of 35-44 year olds considering a career change. Thirty-six percent said they've considered doing a different type of job altogether.

"One of the best ways to make your dream career real is to network with working professionals and employers hiring in that industry, and the Rasmussen College Community Career Fair is the perfect place to start," Hennessy said. "You can research what types of jobs are out there, identify where your interests match and what education you may need to make your dream career real. If you're new to the job search, our career experts will build your confidence by helping you refine your resume, hone your interview skills and enhance your LinkedIn profile."

The Rasmussen College Community Career Fair is a key initiative under the College's Public Benefit Corporation platform, "Building Community Through Education." Since 2009, Rasmussen College Career Fairs have connected more than 20,000 individuals with employers.
