Aimco Donates $105,000 to Assist Military Families through TAPS: Total Contribution Amount Reaches $803,000

DENVER, Nov. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- For the seventh consecutive year, Apartment Investment and Management Company (Aimco) has made a substantial donation to The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, which assists family members who have lost a loved one in the line of duty.  Aimco's recent donation of $105,000 raised in the 11th annual Charity Golf Classic sponsored by the Aimco Cares philanthropic program, brings the company's total TAPS contribution to $803,000. Aimco Chief Administrative Officer Miles Cortez presented the donation to Bonnie Carroll, Founder and Chairman of TAPS, during a recent ceremony at the Army and Navy Club in Washington, D.C.

Since its inception, the annual golf classic has raised more than $3 million dollars for charitable causes.  This year's additional tournament beneficiaries were Project Sanctuary, a national organization that helps service men and women reconnect with their families after returning from overseas duty, and the Aimco Cares Opportunity Scholarship Fund which provides financial assistance to college-bound students living in affordable housing.  The scholarship program is administered by the National Leased Housing Association Education Fund.

More than 120 golfers participated in the 2014 charity tournament with more than 75 companies providing sponsorships to raise funds for the event which was held in July at Sanctuary Golf Course in Sedalia, Colorado.  Diamond sponsors contributing at least $30,000, were Jones Lang LaSalle, RentPath and IPA.   Platinum sponsors, contributing at least $20,000, were Apartment Finder and Harris Winick, LLP.
