WASHINGTON, Nov. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Maria Contreras-Sweet, is launching into a week of encouraging Americans across the country to shop small on November 29th as part of Small Business Saturday, a day that is dedicated to supporting the small businesses that anchor our local communities and strengthen our economy.

As a member of President Obama's Cabinet, the SBA Administrator is reminding American's to not only shop small on Small Business Saturday, but start with their Thanksgiving dinner items. She will visit an immigrant- and veteran-owned small business grocer to highlight the impact of entrepreneurs on our economy.

In Maryland, independent grocers generate $2.27B in annual sales and are responsible for over 20,000 jobs and wages $872.75 million.  That fuels $218M in state and local budget, and almost $200M in federal resources.
