Martin Tickle Appointed as Fine Wine Director at AWC

LONDON, November 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

Global wine and spirits merchant, AWC announced a new senior appointment to its staff with the joining of Martin Tickle as the company's new Fine Wine Director. Based at AWC's headquarters in London, Martin will lead the company's team of fine wine experts and will be responsible for strengthening and developing AWC's fine wine sourcing capabilities.

Martin brings with him over twelve years of experience in the fine wine trade. Having joined Majestic Wine's graduate scheme fresh from university, he progressed to manage a number of stores, including branches in the City of London and the concession in London's famous wine tourist attraction, Vinopolis. He then moved on to gain experience selling fine wines to an international group of private clients in Mayfair before joining the trading team at Roberson wine, where he bought and sold fine wine, with a primary focus on emerging Asian markets, particularly Hong Kong. Following this he worked as a buyer for independent wine merchants Corney & Barrow, combining his experience in the Asia Pacific region with a network of buying contacts in the UK and across Europe.

His role will involve regular travel to meet growers and merchants in Europe and the US, with a view to uncovering exclusive parcels for AWC's clients, whilst ensuring provenance and authenticity.

Martin comments on his appointment that, "Having had the fortune to gather a great many years of experience in the wine world, I am looking forward to using this knowledge at AWC. As the company is one of the most well-regarded merchants in the world specialising in the higher end of the market, my goal is to help provide clients with the opportunity to purchase special wines that they can't get elsewhere and I relish this opportunity to uncover some exciting and diverse new offerings on their behalf."
