LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Jan. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- When it comes to school choice in Arkansas, what are leaders in Little Rock doing right, and where could they improve? School choice advocates will use National School Choice Week 2015 to discuss educational options in the Natural State.

Parents, educators, and supporters are welcome to gather at an open house on Sunday, January 25, 2015, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at 2206 South Park Street, Little Rock, Arkansas. Beverages and appetizers will be provided. 

The event will provide information on Arkansas charter schools, private schools, and homeschools, along with updates on changes in traditional public schools in Arkansas through the School Choice legislation, which allows children to attend schools outside their districts. 

"The goal is to make sure that parents have all the information they need to choose schools that are in the best interest of the children around the state of Arkansas," said Virginia Walden Ford, education activist, Friedman Foundation. 

The event is planned to coincide with National School Choice Week 2015 (January 25-31, 2015).

Celebrated every year in January, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on all types of effective education options for children, including traditional public schools, public charter schools, magnet schools, private schools, online learning, and homeschooling. The celebration is nonpartisan and nonpolitical. National School Choice Week 2015 will feature a history-making 11,000 independently planned and independently funded events across all 50 states.
