Analyst Update: New Products, Philanthropic Initiatives, Results, and Agreements

U.S. stocks mostly closed lower on Tuesday amid a mixed bag of earnings reports. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.47% to 17949.59, and the S&P 500 ended the session 0.15% lower at 2097.31. On a positive note, the NASDAQ gained 0.39% to close at 5014.10, mainly supported by big gains in biotechnology stocks amid strong M&A activities. European stocks continued their strong run on Tuesday. Major European markets closed the session higher, as Germany's DAX jumped 0.4%; Britain's FTSE 100 rose 0.15%, and France's CAC gained 0.10%. Meanwhile, Asian markets surged on Tuesday, recovering from their disappointing session on the previous day. The Shanghai Composite, Japan's Nikkei and Hong Kong's Hang Seng all posted positive gains.

On April 20, 2015, Applied Materials, Inc. reported the introduction of the Applied Centura® Tetra(TM) Z Photomask Etch system for etching next-generation optical lithographic photomasks which enables the extension of multiple patterning scaling to the 10nm node and beyond.

Micron Technology, Inc. reported on April 9, 2015 that its Idaho-based team members formally selected the Women's and Children's Alliance (WCA) as their 2015 "Charity of Choice," earning the charity additional support including a $20,000 monetary donation to achieve its vision of a community where individuals thrive in safe, healthy relationships.

On April 21, 2015, Twitter Inc announced its latest product and policy updates so that users can safely use its social media platform. The Company is making two policy changes- one related to prohibited content and another about enforcing certain policy violations.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd reported a 49.8% YoY increase in its first quarter 2015 revenues to NT$222.03 billion, while net income went up 65% YoY to c.NT$79 billion. EPS for the period came in at NT$3.05, up from NT$1.85 in the first quarter 2014.

On April 13, 2015, QUALCOMM, Inc. reported that its subsidiary Qualcomm Life, Inc and Cerner Corp. have entered into an agreement to extend Cerner's industry leading medical device connectivity capabilities beyond the hospital to the home.
