Analyst Update: Financial Results
U.S. stocks closed higher on Monday, led by better than expected corporate earnings. The S&P 500 closed at 2114.49, up 0.29%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.26% to 18070.4, and the NASDAQ Composite ended the session at 5016.929, up 0.23%. European stocks gained on Monday, supported by strong manufacturing data across the region. Germany's DAX 30 rose 1.44%, and France's CAC 40 jumped 0.70%, while U.K. markets were closed for a public holiday. Meanwhile, Asian markets were mostly up on Monday, amid expectations that China will deploy stimulus measures to tackle slowing economic growth. The Shanghai Composite and Australia's S&P ASX ended higher, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index closed flat.
BRF, one of the leading exporters of animal protein in the world, on April 28, 2015, announced a net income of R$461.6 million for Q1 2015, up 42.8% YoY, with margins improving from 4.8% to 6.5% during this period.
Oshkosh Corporation (Oshkosh) on April 28, 2015 announced its fiscal 2015 second quarter results. Net income was $54.6 million, or $0.69 per diluted share in Q2 FY 2015, compared to $71.5 million, or $0.83 per diluted share, in Q2 FY 2014.
Avery Dennison (Avery) on April 29, 2015 announced its unaudited results for its first quarter 2015 (ended April 4, 2015). Net sales for Q1 FY 2015 declined approximately by 1% YoY, to $1.53 billion, but on organic basis sales were up by c.3%.
Carter's, Inc. announced its first quarter fiscal 2015 results on April 29, 2015 with consolidated net sales up by 5.1% YoY, to $684.8 million in Q1, primarily driven by growth in the Company's U.S. Carter's and OshKosh direct-to-consumer businesses.
Genworth Financial (Genworth), on April 28, 2015, announced its first quarter 2015 financial results (period ended March 31, 2015). The Company reported a net income of $154 million or $0.31 per diluted share in Q1 2015, compared with net income of $184 million, or $0.37 per diluted share, in Q1 2014.
