WesBanco Announces that Joseph P. Flynn, Jr. has Received the FHLBank Pittsburgh Council's Award for Excellence in Community Investment

WHEELING, W.Va., June 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- WesBanco, Inc. (Nasdaq: WSBC) President and CEO, Todd F. Clossin, announced that Joseph P. Flynn, Jr., SVP and Manager of Community Development for WesBanco Bank Inc., has received the 2015 Council's Award from FHLBank Pittsburgh for excellence in community investment.  John Bendel, FHLBank Director of Community Investment, presented Mr. Flynn with the award at an event held on June 8, 2015.

Named in recognition of FHLBank Pittsburgh's Affordable Housing Advisory Council, FHLBank's annual Council's Award provides special recognition to an outstanding financial services professional who has demonstrated superior professional commitment and community spirit.  The award highlights accomplishments and services in meeting FHLBank's affordable housing and community investment mission.

Mr. Flynn, who is responsible for WesBanco's community development and community investment activities, its Community Development Corporation and its Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) compliance in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, has served as the bank's head of Community Development since 2004.  WesBanco has a long history of superior performance in community lending, investment and service, having received five consecutive Outstanding CRA ratings from its federal banking regulators, with four of them coming under Mr. Flynn's leadership.

Before entering the banking industry, Mr. Flynn had extensive experience in energy conservation at the Federal and local levels and earlier in his career, he was part of the leadership team that created the U.S. Department of Energy.  He has held senior positions within the Department in Defense Programs and Energy Conservation.

Mr. Flynn chairs the board of the WesBanco Community Development Corporation and the investment committee of TechGROWTH Enterprises, LLC.  He is Vice Chair for Community Services of the United Way of Washington County (PA) and a member of the West Virginia Small Business Development Center Advisory Board.

A graduate of LaSalle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Political Science, he received a Master of Science in Administration from The George Washington University.  He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and is a graduate of the West Virginia Graduate School of Banking and the National Community Development Lending School. He and his family reside in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
