Florida students and teachers to benefit from Duke Energy Foundation grants

ST PETERSBURG, Fla., June 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Over 11,000 students and 380 teachers will benefit from Duke Energy grants totaling $1 million to various public education institutions throughout Florida.

The grants, from the Duke Energy Foundation, encompass both direct-to-student contributions and individual teacher grants to improve STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education in Florida's public schools. 

"Providing schools with stronger curriculum and hands-on teaching projects excite students and helps prepare them to enter math and engineering career fields," said Alex Glenn, state president, Duke Energy Florida. "Duke Energy is proud to support these local organizations, which are critical to the long-term success of our state in competing globally."
