WellCare Gives $15,000 to Florida Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs To Provide New Sports Equipment for After-School Programs

TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- WellCare of Florida, a subsidiary of WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG), contributed $15,000 to the Florida Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs to provide new sports equipment for the organization's statewide after-school programs.

The money will be distributed to local clubs across the state to assist with updating sports equipment like basketballs, baseball helmets and gymnastic mats. There are 243 Boys & Girls Club sites statewide supporting approximately 114,000 young people.

WellCare of Florida offers its eligible Staywell Kids members financial support toward the cost of memberships to their local Boys & Girls Clubs. For more information about this benefit, members can call the number on the back of their WellCare identification cards.

As of Sept. 30, 2015, WellCare serves approximately 787,000 Medicaid members, 65,000 Florida Healthy Kids members, 108,000 Medicare Advantage members and 40,000 Medicare Prescription Drug Plan members in Florida.
