WellCare Gives $6,000 in Micro-Grants to Community-Based Organizations That Support Social Service Agencies in Pennsylvania

TAMPA, Fla., April 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (NYSE: WCG) announced today that it gave $6,000 in micro-grants to four community-based organizations in Pennsylvania. These micro-grants went to nonprofit and 501(c)(3) organizations that address needs related to homelessness, caregiver supports, food access and transportation. The micro-grants were given in denominations of $1,500.

This grant will help the agency serve more families through its Ramps of Hope Program, which provides free ramps for residents with disabilities in Northwestern Pennsylvania. The ramps are constructed using a modular design, which allows them to be reclaimed when no longer needed and reused to meet new needs.

 

PA Families, Inc.

Templeton, Pennsylvania

PA Families, Inc. provides support to families raising children and youth with emotional, behavioral and special needs. This grant will help families of children with disabilities identify resources in their communities to ensure they have the necessary information to make informed choices about their children's care.

North Hills Community Outreach (NHCO)

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

This grant will be used to support agency programs that improve quality of life for Pittsburgh residents by providing for basic needs and helping families to become self-sufficient.

Dial-A-Driver Program, Volunteers of America PA

Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania

This grant will be used to provide transportation for seniors and  people with disabilities to medical appointments and quality of life destinations, such as grocery shopping, errands and day programs.
