Philadelphia Region Boasts Two 2009 McDonald's(R) High School Basketball All Americans

Maalik Wayns of Roman Catholic High School and Stephanie Holzer of Cardinal O'Hara High School Will Compete Among the Nation's Top High School Players In This Year's Games

PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- On February 18 the McDonald's All American High School Basketball Selection Committee announced the 32nd All American High School Basketball Boys Team and the eighth All American High School Basketball Girls Team. The committee named Maalik Wayns of Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia to the Boys Team and Stephanie Holzer of Cardinal O'Hara High School in Springfield, Pa. to the Girls Team.

"Not only are these young stars among the top basketball players in the country, but their efforts in Miami will contribute to raising awareness of an important cause in Ronald McDonald House Charities."

The 2009 All American Games will tip-off in Miami on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at the BankUnited Center. The Girls Game begins at 5:30 p.m. ET and will broadcast live on ESPNU. The Boys Game begins at 8:00 p.m. ET and will air live on ESPN.

Proceeds from the 2009 McDonald's All American High School Basketball Games will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC(R)) of South Florida and the local Ronald McDonald House program, and every athlete who participates in the Games will visit the local Ronald McDonald House to experience first-hand how the Games impact the local community. Millions of dollars have been raised since the Games' inception.

More than 90 percent of All American alumni have played college basketball for Division I programs and more than 150 currently compete in the NBA/WNBA, including former and current NCAA, NBA and WNBA superstars Michael Jordan, Alonzo Mourning, Kevin Garnett, LeBron James and Candace Parker.
