Salyer American Fresh Foods Celebrates National Nutrition Month in March With Two Events

Veggie A B Cs at the Culinary Center of Monterey 3.12.09 and Vegging Out Day at MY Museum 3.29.09

National Nutrition Month(R) is a nutrition education and information campaign created by the American Dietetic Association (ADA). The campaign is designed to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.

Veggie A B Cs at the Culinary Center of Monterey

Thursday, March 12th 2009 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

The Culinary Center of Monterey and Salyer American Fresh Foods will host "Veggie A B Cs" at the Culinary Center of Monterey located at 625 Cannery Row in Monterey on Thursday, March 12th, 2009, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

The class is geared for children 5 on up. Veggie A B Cs at the Culinary Center of Monterey will teach children to love their Asparagus, Broccoli and Cauliflower and more. Chef Mary Pagan, owner of the Culinary Center of Monterey, will hold an interactive education class where children will learn first hand about produce as well as create their own dishes.

There will be a cooking class for the kids from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. After the class, the children and their parents will get to sample the dishes the children made. Each parent will receive recipe cards from the Culinary Center of Monterey, an organic shopping tote and get to shop complimentary at the Salyer American Fresh Foods Farmer's Market Stand set up in the Culinary Center of Monterey. Each parent can fill up their tote with veggies to take home and cook with!

MY Museum Vegging Out Day

Sunday, March 29th, 2009 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

MY Museum and Salyer American Fresh Foods will host "Vegging Out Day" at the museum on Sunday, March 29th at 1:00 p.m. MY Museum is located at 425 Washington Street in Monterey.

Vegging Out Day at MY Museum will feature Chef Brandon Miller from Mundaka in Carmel. Children are invited to come play with veggies - learn how to cook, meet Bebe The Broccoli, who will be sprouting and signing autographs in front of MY Museum, and shop in Salyer American Fresh Farms complimentary Farmers Market Stand.

Chef Miller will teach a cooking class for kids from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. He will be featuring Salyer American Fresh Farms Colorflower in purple, orange and green and teach kids how to make a Colorful macaroni and cheese with veggies instead of noodles! Parents will receive recipe cards, an organic shopping tote and be able to shop complimentary in Salyer American Fresh Foods Farmer's Market Stand!
