One Year Out: Census Partners Gather for National Kick-Off

Commerce Secretary Gary Locke makes first public appearance

WASHINGTON, March 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke will deliver his first public remarks since being confirmed by the U.S. Senate at an exclusive briefing of nearly 250 national partners of the 2010 U.S. Census on Monday in Washington. The partners will join the U.S. Census Bureau to launch outreach efforts as part of the "one-year-out" activities. The 2010 Census Partnership Program is designed to bring a familiar face to Census activities. The program brings national, regional and local governments, businesses and nonprofit organizations together to raise awareness of, and encourage participation in, the 2010 Census. These voluntary partners are trusted voices within their organizations and communities, and can encourage everyone to take part in the 2010 count.
