Fieger Announces Filing of Federal Lawsuit Against Pennsylvania State Police and Trooper Samuel Nassan

PITTSBURGH, April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Nationally known Attorney Geoffrey Fieger will hold a press conference on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the law offices of Mills & Henry located at 223 Fourth Avenue, 2nd Floor, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; (412) 471-2442 to announce the filed federal civil rights lawsuit against the Pennsylvania State Police, Trooper Samuel Nassan and Pittsburgh Police Sergeant Terrence Donnelly, regarding the shooting death of Nicholas Haniotakis on March 17, 2009.

Fieger stated:

"Less than one year ago, a federal jury in Pittsburgh issued a 28 million dollar verdict against Samuel Nassan for intentionally killing Michael Ellerbe, age 12, by shooting him in the back. The jury did not hear a wrongful death case, it heard a federal civil rights case which requires proof of deliberate intent.

At trial, it was shown that the Pennsylvania State Police assisted Nassan in covering up the facts of the killing. Now, less than one year later, Mr. Nassan, a trained sharpshooter, has shot another citizen in the back after his dispatch allegedly told him to call off his chase for DUI."
