Standard & Poor's Announces Changes to U.S. Indices

NEW YORK, June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Standard & Poor's will make the following changes to the S&P MidCap 400 and S&P SmallCap 600 indices after the close of trading on Tuesday, June 23:

  • Employers Holdings Inc. (NYSE: EIG) will replace Catapult Communications (Nasdaq: CATT) in the S&P SmallCap 600. Catapult is being acquired by Ixia (Nasdaq: XXIA) in a cash tender offer expected to expire soon.

  • S&P SmallCap 600 constituent WMS Industries Inc. (NYSE: WMS) will replace The Colonial BancGroup Inc. (NYSE: CNB) in the S&P MidCap 400, and Badger Meter Inc. (NYSE: BMI) will replace WMS Industries in the S&P SmallCap 600. As of today's close of trading, Colonial BancGroup had a market capitalization of approximately $206 million whereas the minimum market cap needed to be admitted to the index is currently $750 million.

Employers Holdings is a provider of workers' compensation insurance. Headquartered in Reno, NV, the company will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS (Global Industry Classification Standard) Property & Casualty Insurance Sub-Industry index.

WMS Industries is a provider of gaming products to the legalized gaming industry. Headquartered in Waukegan, IL, the company will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 GICS Casinos & Gaming Sub-Industry index.

Badger Meter is a manufacturer and marketer of products incorporating liquid flow measurement and control technologies. Headquartered in Milwaukee, WI, the company will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 GICS Industrial Machinery Services Sub-Industry index.
