3M Co. (NYSE: MMM) will pay approximately $943 million to acquire automated fingerprint identification systems company Cogent Inc. (Nasdaq: COGT). Shares of 3M lost 72 cents to $80.28 while Cogent stock soared $1.86 to $10.77.
