The CFO Connection has added long-time management and financial expert Frank Abbott to its growing team of “lean CFOs.” Based out of San Diego, Abbott expands the presence of The CFO Connection in Southern California.
The CFO Connection is a Boston-based firm that provides part-time CFO services to small and mid-sized companies in North and South America. The addition of Abbott to the firm’s team comes as The CFO Connection ramps up operations to meet increased demand for innovative CFO services that deliver value at reasonable cost. The CFO Connection meets this market need through the Lean CFO model. This model pairs smaller organizations that cannot justify the expense of a full-time CFO with the expertise of seasoned CFOs who provide services on a part-time basis.
“Frank’s experience as an accountant, an executive, and as an independent business owner in his own right makes him a perfect fit for The CFO Connection and its customers,” said Bob Thompson, founder and CEO of The CFO Connection.
Abbott brings more than 30 years of experience to his new role. Before joining The CFO Connection, he served as CEO of a successful management training company where he oversaw the delivery of financial education and consulting services to all levels of management at small and large corporations throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. In this capacity, he managed and motivated finance departments and worked with key non-financial personnel (marketing, manufacturing, sales, and research) to help clients optimize their approach to financial management.
Before this venture, Abbott served as CFO of a health maintenance organization (HMO) with annual revenues of more than $100M. Earlier in his career, he held senior level financial positions at various companies including the Syntex Corporation, McNeil Laboratories (Johnson & Johnson family of companies), and the Canadian National Transportation Company. He started his career as an auditor with PriceWaterhouse Coopers.
Abbott is a member of the American Society of Training and Development and the Society of Management Accountants. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto and an MBA (Bachelor of Commerce degree) from the University of Windsor. He is also a Certified Management Accountant.
“In today’s economy, smaller businesses need to do more with less,” said Abbott. “I look forward to helping my clients in Southern California manage their finances in an affordable way that opens up new opportunities and optimizes performance for long term success.”
