Seasoned operator and COO returns to lead Accordion’s largest office amid firm’s rapid global growth
Accordion, an AI and data-powered financial consulting firm focused on private equity, today announced that Sonny Thadani has re-joined the firm as New York City Office Lead. As former Chief Operating Officer in the firm’s early days, Thadani returns with a deep understanding of Accordion’s unique clients and culture, coupled with fresh perspective gained from his leadership roles outside the firm.
“Sonny helped build this firm from the ground up and was part of Accordion’s fabric even during his time away,” said Nick Leopard, Founder & CEO of Accordion. “His return reflects our commitment to investing in proven leaders who not only understand the evolving private equity landscape but also embody our people-first culture. With Sonny’s leadership in our largest and most client-concentrated market, Accordion is exceptionally well-positioned to continue growing at pace – delivering lasting value for both sponsors and CFOs.”
Thadani’s appointment strengthens Accordion’s senior leadership team and underscores the firm’s ongoing investment in talent amid its rapid global expansion. “The PE landscape is evolving quickly,” said Thadani. “Accordion has always stayed ahead of the curve - first with our focus on the Office of the CFO, and now with our AI and data solutions. In today’s more competitive environment, where the stakes are higher than ever, I’m energized by the challenge of helping private equity navigate what comes next.”
From 2010–2020, Thadani oversaw operations, infrastructure, and people strategy at Accordion, helping to establish the firm as the go-to partner for private equity CFOs. He later co-founded Robin, a digital coaching platform designed to support the future of learning through curated content, assessments, and live virtual sessions. As Robin’s CEO, he further honed his leadership and entrepreneurial skills, which he now brings back to Accordion as NYC Office Lead, serving as the firm’s ambassador in its most critical client hub.
Thadani’s leadership is expected to play a vital role in both culture and strategy. Accordion was founded on the belief that putting people first breeds great client outcomes, and Thadani was instrumental in embedding that philosophy during his initial tenure. “Our ability to attract incredible talent has grown over the years,” Thadani added. “The New York Office Lead position feels like the perfect fit, as it allows me to focus on two things I love: delivering for clients and helping top talent thrive.”
