Marquis Who's Who Honors Philip Ryder for Leadership and Contributions to Environmental Protection

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / October 29, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Philip Ryder for his leadership and lasting contributions to environmental protection. As environmental manager at Ames Construction Inc., he plays a key role in ensuring the company meets the highest standards for air and water quality, stormwater control and environmental safety.

About Philip Ryder

Mr. Ryder has nearly 30 years of experience in geology, environmental science and compliance. At Ames, he is based out of the Corona, California, office, where he oversees air and water quality permits, stormwater programs and environmental training for teams across Arizona and California. He manages compliance for multiple projects simultaneously, supporting project teams to meet environmental regulations while also supporting the company's growth. Through his leadership, Ames continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible construction.

Before joining Ames in 2016, Mr. Ryder worked for several leading environmental and mining organizations. While at Kiewit Infrastructure Southwest, where he first shifted from geology to environmental compliance in 2007, he served as district environmental manager covering projects in Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Nevada and Southern California. Prior to this, he served as a stormwater specialist for AMEC Environment and Infrastructure. His earlier experience included work as a field geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey, and as an exploration geologist at Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mine (CC&V Gold), Round Mountain Gold Corp (Barrick-Kinross), and finally as a senior exploration geologist with Resolution Copper (Rio Tinto). Across each role, he combined scientific knowledge with practical solutions to balance mineral exploration and construction goals with environmental care.

Mr. Ryder is known for sharing his expertise as a speaker at major industry events. In 2025, he presented on construction challenges and climate resilience at the Tri-State Seminar in Las Vegas; in 2024, he spoke at both the AZ Water Association Conference and the Association of General Contractors of America's Annual Environmental Conference. His talks often focus on planning, stormwater management and adapting to environmental changes. Additionally, he has co-written several professional papers and manuals with the Arizona Department of Transportation and the U.S. Geological Survey, contributing to the advancement of environmental and scientific knowledge, practices and policies.

Alongside his work at Ames, Mr. Ryder contributes to national environmental efforts. He serves on the Environmental Steering Committee of the Associated General Contractors of America and as part of its National Climate Change Working Group. At the latter organization, he works closely with other industry leaders to help shape policies to promote sustainable practices and methods in construction.

A master's degree in geology from Arizona State University and a bachelor's degree from Commonwealth University-Lock Haven laid the foundation for Mr. Ryder's career. His professional certifications include CPESC, CESSWI, CISEC, QCIS, QPSWPPP, QSP/QSD (California), ECC (Arizona), OSHA 30-hour Construction and HAZWOPER training. These credentials demonstrate his commitment to learning and adhering to best practices in environmental management.

Outside of work, Mr. Ryder enjoys exploring the outdoors through off-roading, mountain biking, hiking and camping. He also enjoys spending time with his Labrador retrievers and his family, finding inspiration in nature and its preservation.

Mr. Ryder's career has been recognized with several honors, including the Achievement in Science Award from Commonwealth University-Lock Haven. Looking ahead, he hopes to one day transition into a director-level role at Ames, where he can continue to improve environmental programs and mentor others in the field. His career serves as an exemplary model of leadership and a lifelong commitment to protecting the environment for future generations.
