Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis/ July 19, 2024/ A big presence of American investors at the St. Kitts and Nevis Investment Gateway Summit showcases a keen interest in the citizenship by investment industry.
The inaugural five-day summit received a huge response from Americans, looking for a path towards dual nationality in a politically stable and economically growing Federation.
This comes as CNBC's research revealed that "Nearly 1 in 3 American expatriates plan to renounce their citizenship or are seriously considering it".
Notably, taxes aren't the only reason these "Wealthy Americans" are seeking a way out, instead, the political landscape of the US has been taking a harsh turn recently, leading to this shift.
The Investment Gateway Summit, a first of its kind invited global citizens, investors, potential investors, and C-suite individuals from across the world under one umbrella.
Participating in the summit, a retired American investor formerly with the US Army expressed his intention to construct a residence in St. Kitts and Nevis. Originally from Washington DC, the investor also showed keen interest in obtaining citizenship of the Caribbean Island.
Having visited numerous islands throughout the region, he has settled on St. Kitts for his permanent abode due to its peaceful atmosphere and enhanced safety standards.
"I live in Washington D.C, now my wife and I are seeking a more relaxed and easy life here in St Kitts and Nevis. We want to build a house here, and spend our retirement years on the island," said one of the American investors at the Investment Gateway Summit 2024.
Another investor, in his late 50's also revealed why he chose St. Kitts and Nevis as his second home with his wife. Describing his reasons, the businessman talked about the proximity of the Federation to the US. He said that being just 3 hours away from Miami, St. Kitts and Nevis makes it a perfect place to call 'home' owing to its subtle charm, tranquil environment, and ease of travel back to the United States for business and family visits.
He highlighted the island's natural beauty, friendly locals, and favourable policies as additional incentives that solidified his decision.
Another element contributing to St. Kitts and Nevis as a choice for these American investors is the longevity of the citizenship by investment programme. Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the programme is recognized for its resilience, frequent upgradations and transparency.
